The geofence function is currently not active for security reasons.
This decision was made to avoid potential dangerous situations, in particular related to the automatic opening of the gate when entering the pre-established GPS range. This could create risks:
- Unexpected Openings: unexpected openings could arise simply when you are passing in a nearby street or going out into the garden. The device is not able to know when, given an entry into the pre-established GPS range, the user actually wants to open the automation or not
- Dangerous Situations: automatic opening, with consequent possible unexpected openings, could generate safety problems (opening garage / door) or risks especially in the presence of pets or children nearby (opening gate / gate).
Possible Future Developments
We understand that the geofence feature may be convenient for many users. We are closely monitoring user requests and may consider introducing a user choice option in the future. This would allow users to turn the feature on or off based on their specific needs.
Safe Alternatives: Voice Commands
In the meantime, we encourage you to experiment with using voice commands as an alternative. You can activate the gate/garage/door opening with a simple "Ok Google". This option offers safe and convenient control without compromising the safety of your surroundings.
